Paul Yelder has over 40 years of experience in the field of Community Development, working in a variety of capacities in the public and private nonprofit sectors.
As a consultant, he provides a variety of organizational development assistance to nonprofit community development organizations in the areas of Strategic Planning, Business Planning, Governance, Creating a Non-Profit Organization, Project Planning/Management, and Governance. Mr. Yelder also conducts workshops on these topics for community development practitioners.
Most recently, he was employed by The Enterprise Foundation as a Senior Program Director in the Housing and Community Development Workgroup, where he provided organizational management assistance to numerous housing and community development organizations throughout the country. He also co-authored the manuals: “Effective Strategic Planning” and “Planning a New Business Venture” of The Enterprise Foundation’s Community Development Library. Prior to joining the staff of the Enterprise Foundation, he was the Executive Director of Dudley Neighbors Incorporated, a community land trust established by the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI), a nationally recognized model of resident-driven community development. He also served on the Board of Directors of DSNI for four years prior to accepting a staff position.
He is currently serving, or has served, on the Board of Directors of a variety of nonprofit and civic organizations. These organizations include: the Institute for Community Economics (ICE), The American Baptist Churches of MA-Commission on Social Witness, Quincy Geneva Housing Corporation (Dorchester, MA), The Thacher School (Ojai, CA), YouthBuild Boston, W.A.I.T.T House (Boston, MA), Ebenezer Baptist Church (Boston, MA), St. John Baptist Church (Columbia, MD), Cinnamon Tree Community Association (Columbia, MD), and The Howard County Planning Board (Howard County, MD).
Mr. Yelder holds a Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning from Harvard University and Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Urban Studies from Dartmouth College. He is a native of Los Angeles, California.
